Children in general would rather want to play or watch TV than retire to bed early. It has always been the biggest issue that parents are facing and in my guess no one has been exempted to face this at all. Every parent I met or know have the same problem as letting the child go to bed and have a complete sleep during night. Here we discuss some tricks for them to want early bed.
1. See to it that their bedrooms are interesting and special in a sense that they would want to stay there. Before deciding what to design the room, you should let them take part in the designing process and allow them to choose the designs they want. It is their own room after all.
2. They should have bedtime routines and schedule. While it is very good in feeling to let our toddler run about like they were demented chicks until they are worn out for the day and just fall asleep anywhere they seem fit, it can give you trouble later on if they wake up in the middle of the night and found out that they have been tucked to their bed. To avoid this you have to make sure that they follow bed time procedures.
3. If they seem to be restless and would like to go up and about even if it is time for bed already, do not let them. Keep them on bed. Be firm on your resolution that it is time for bed and say your good nights as final. After doing this, make sure to ignore any thing he wants to talk to you about. Remember that play time and story telling is over and they have to realize that because if they do not, it will pose as a hard challenge for you.
4. Prepare a night light open because most kids are more often than not afraid of the dark. You should understand this fact because perhaps you have your own share of fears in the dark too. Having a night light on will ease their burden of having to deal with night terror especially when your room is relatively far from their own. However, do not worry about weaning them out of it because they will just outgrow it. Personally when I was a little kid, I could never sleep with lights off.
5. Give them reward each time they complete a full nights rest. This will really motivate them although of course watch for danger signals of them taking advantage on the prices because you later might deal with spoiled brats because of your own doing. Do it in moderation and try to give them prices that they will enjoy but will not get used to as time goes by.
However, there are really times when you can't keep up with your child's activity. Do not throw a feat of temper against them because it will get you to nowhere. You just have to keep calm and be consistent with your way of doing things.
